Glamping at Tadom Hill Resorts is a little less lavish, but you’ll be more in touch with nature. There are two pre-pitched tent sites: one with a lakeside view and the other with a garden view. Tubotel, Langkawi

The Tubotel Langkawi is a budget hotel with a twist, set on the beautiful Malaysian island of Langkawi. A kind of cross between a hostel and a capsule hotel, the Tubotel offers accommodation for travellers in… slices of concrete drain pipe. Not a joke. The private tubes are painted in bright colours, with comfortable beds and aircon. And the Tubotel is in a truly stunning location overlooking the ocean.
